Fallbacks

Fallbacks are search engine options that are displayed when you search using QueryDial’s popup. They are called ‘fallbacks’ because they are displayed even when your query doesn’t contain a shortcut or when your shortcut don’t match any search engine.

Set a search engine as fallback

Mac

Select “Search Engines” under “Library” to view your search engine library. Select the search engines you want to add to fallbacks, then right-click one of them, select “Add to Fallbacks” from the menu. You can also drag selected search engines to the “Fallbacks” sidebar item.

iPhone & iPad

In the “Library” tab, tap the “Select” button in the navigation bar, select the search engines you wish to add to fallbacks, press the “Add to Fallbacks” button in the bottom bar when you are done. Search engines that are fallbacks will have a ‘Fallbacks’ label.

Remove a search engine from Fallbacks

You can remove search engines from Fallbacks if you no longer wish to use them as fallback search engines. Search engines removed from fallbacks won’t be deleted from user library.

Mac

In the “Fallbacks” Tab, right click the search engines you want to remove from fallbacks, select “Remove from Fallbacks” from the menu to remove them.

iPhone & iPad

In the “Fallbacks” Tab, long press the search engine you wish to remove from fallbacks to focus on them, then select “Remove from Fallbacks” in the popped up menu. You can also swipe to delete them from fallbacks.

Reorder Fallback Items

Fallbacks are ordered. Fallback search engines displayed in the Safari toolbar popup will follow the top-to-bottom order of fallbacks in your “Fallbacks” tab. You can drag them up and down to reorder them.
