Shortcut Style

A shortcut style is the syntax QueryDial use to recognize shortcuts in your query. At the moment, QueryDial supports the following shortcut styles:

  • !Bang Commands: !Bang Commands use the same syntax as DuckDuckGo bangs. Shortcut in the query should be prefixed or suffixed with an exclamation mark (! or full-width ), for example, both “!yt” or “yt!” denotes shortcut “yt”. You can use !Bang Commands anywhere in your query, so “cat videos !yt”, “yt! cat videos” even “cat yt! videos” works.
  • First Word as Shortcut: uses the first word seperated by spaces in your query as the shortcut. For example, in “yt cat videos”, “yt” is the shortcut word.
  • First or Last Word as Shortcut: uses the first or last word seperated by spaces in your query as the shortcut. For example, in “yt cat videos”, both “yt” and “videos” will be seen as a potential shortcut. When you use it in the address bar or in search engines, only the first recognizable shortcut will be used.

You can change which shortcut style to use in the in-app settings.
