We added explanation on why QueryDial needs permission to access the content of your web pages since version 1.2.1.
QueryDial is committed to protecting the privacy of its users. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights concerning your information.
Information We Collect
QueryDial do not collect any personal data from you or your device. The app stores your created search engine profiles solely within your private iCloud container. This means the information is only accessible on devices signed in with your iCloud account.
Use of Information
The search engine profiles you create within QueryDial are for your personal use only. QueryDial does not access or use this information for any purpose other than storing it within your iCloud container as intended for the app’s syncing functionality.
Why QueryDial needs Web History and Web Page Related Permissions
While it looks like QueryDial might look at your website browsing history, that permission is needed for a totally different purpose: it needs to know the URL when you start a search in order to analyze the query part in the URL. This means the app does need to see your browsing URL, and we have to use the WebNavigation API for that purpose, which leads to Safari’s privacy suggestion. We don’t use your browsing history URL for anything else: We won’t store it nor send it anywhere else because QueryDial processes all the work locally just in time.
After version 1.2.1, the macOS version of the app will have the ability to send selected text directly to QueryDial’s popup. This feature needs to read your current web page in order to find our what text are you currently selecting. Because the extension is using the same source code shared across different platforms, you might receive prompts in Safari suggesting the permission changes in all of your devices with QueryDial installed.
We understand you might have concerns about your data privacy. To help ease those concerns, you can use third-party apps that monitor app network activity. These apps will show you if QueryDial (or any part of this app) is trying to send data to suspicious locations.
Your Rights
You have control over the information stored within your iCloud container. You can access, edit, or delete your search engine profiles at any time directly through the QueryDial app. Additionally, you can manage your iCloud storage and data through your Apple device settings.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on our App Store marketing page.
